Reviews for Detention
“I recommend this to anyone who likes science fiction escape stories.” Amber, Goodreads.
She’s been sentenced to teenage prison…
When Carla Mainston is sentenced to two weeks in juvenile detention for dirtying someone else’s carpet, she promises to never break the rules again—no matter how stupid they are.
She thinks that the worst that can happen is she’ll be bored to death, but it seems that the wicked warden of the institute plans to keep her imprisoned indefinitely in the detention center, along with all the other kids trapped behind its dark walls.
In an attempt to escape, Carla discovers the monster on the fourth floor and uncovers a darker purpose to the institution. She will have to fight for her freedom if she wants to go home. She will have to break all the rules if she wants to survive…

When a book sticks with you for a long time and you keep checking to see when the new books out, well, then you just know the books just that good. Carla, the main character, is different from most of the members if her society. Growing up with that burden has caused a rebellious streak in her but more than ever a sense of right and wrong that even most others in the story aren’t seeing. I read this book straight through without stopping as I was riveted to my seat. Claire Chilton has taken everyday life situations and used her imagination to add a little splash of fantasy. I would recommend this book to everyone.
